Family and friends established the Danny Legendre Memorial Scholarship Fund in loving memory of Danny Legendre. Danny’s life was tragically cut short in a snowmobile accident in December 2003; however, he accomplished more in the 14 years that he was with us than most people accomplish in a lifetime. Danny was a friend to all and made the world a better place by teaching us:
- How to treat people the way we would want to be treated;
- Life is too short to be unhappy;
- Never take what you have for granted;
- You only get out of life what you put into it and, above all;
- How to laugh not only with others, but also at ourselves.
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior of Gorham High School attending a post-secondary education institution.
Award Criteria
- The applicant’s character will account for 75% of the selection criteria by displaying ambition, respect, helpfulness, and amiability.
- School and community involvement will account for the other 25% of the selection criteria. The applicant should be a well-rounded individual.
Applications may be picked up in the Gorham Middle High School Guidance Office. The GMHS Scholarship Committee determines the winner of the scholarship.
